The Happiness Challenge: Forgiveness

November 7, 2014
day four

"On the days when I feel love and compassion and forgiveness in my life, I'm happier and more attractive to other people." --Marianne Williamson

Forgiveness Challenge: focus on forgiveness rather than resentment!

  • Write a letter of forgiveness - not necessarily to send, but to write out what happened, how it affected you, and what you wish the person had done, and to end with a statement of understanding and forgiveness
  • Forgive yourself for not being the richest, the thinnest, the tallest, or the one with the best hair. Forgive yourself for not being the most successful, the cutest, or the one with the fastest time. Forgive yourself for not winning every round. Forgive yourself for being afraid.
I've definitely been working on this for a while now. I realized that we can't do everything we want to do, we can't be everything we want to be, and we will never be perfect in this life. BUT. We can do lots of good things. We can be brave and we can work harder and we can try new things. We can acknowledge our strengths and use them to bless others. Most importantly, you just need to be YOU. Accept it and love it. It's ok to not be the best at everything, but just forgive yourself. Don't let it get you down. And don't let it hinder you from being the amazing person you are. It's definitely a process, but just keep trying. Keep your head up and don't forget to smile!
