RA appreciation

March 31, 2015
There is nothing more needed than a little appreciation at the end of a long and hard school year. I am so grateful for the opportunity I have had to work for BYU Residence Life the past couple years. I have learned so much, had a blast, met some amazing people, and been able to serve in my own little corner here in Provo.

Instead of having class today, we were able to go to the WILK and just PLAY! The Hall Advisors sang for us, we got to eat some great food, we bowled, we laughed, we got chocolate and t-shirts. It was the perfect hour of relaxation on a Tuesday afternoon. They seriously treat us so well.

old people names haha!

BYU Bestival

March 29, 2015
March turned out to be quite the adventure! One of these adventures was BYU Bestival. Those of you who are familiar with Cotopaxi's Questival will know exactly what this is. But I however, was clueless. Let's just say I got into something a lot more than I bargained for. For 28 hours (including sleeping) I went a huge picture scavenger hunt all over Provo. Here's a sneak peak of what we did:

best study spot in the library

gettin' creative at Cougar Creations

reenact a movie scene. name that movie?!

shake hands with a police officer

bake some cookies and give them to a neighbor!

We visited literally every park in Provo. There are like 25 of them!

 we are HAPPY!

I seriously learned about so many things on BYU campus. Who knew we had Kung Fu Panda in the math building

do we look hospitable?

he was a little too tall for me...

contemplating at the tree of life

mission pins!
Alabama. England. New York. Texas

we also have hidden galleries

getting lost trying to find the lost and found

awful textbooks you should never read

I also found so many fun restaurants in downtown p-town. It really made me want to do an "eat through Provo" adventure.

what do we want most from the candy counter? all of it haha!

look closely. the byu store even has an aisle where you can find your future spouse

a week later I saw this dude. He had a cotopaxi backpack which was one of the challenges. I immediately sent it to Cat. We're still on the look out

It started out as kind of a joke and a way to support our friend Keaton, but then it was just too much fun and we kind of became determined to win. I put so much time and energy into it that I was absolutely exhausted, sunburnt, and cultured by the time it was done. We had a lot of laughs, did some pretty awkward things, and ran around like crazy people. But overall, I think it was worth it. I even met some new friends! Cat and I feel like we've known each other for years we spent so much time together haha!

The worst part was posting all the pictures.
*sorry to all my insta followers*
all of you minus the 30 people that unfollowed me are real troopers. I promise not to blow your feed up ever again!

but some of the highlights are put on the blog for memories sake. it was a little difficult to narrow down!

a few of my favorite things

March 14, 2015
Does anyone else feel like they just have to be loyal to their favorites from when they were a little kid? Ya know like the basic favorite questions:
favorite color - purple
favorite ice cream - vanilla
favorite disney princess - Cinderella
favorite movie - National Treasure

By the time you're 22 they're just automatic answers right?

Well, I suppose it's ok to change your favorites and maybe have new ones. But one of mine was definitely confirmed this week. I'm probably one of the biggest ice cream fans on.the.planet. Seriously, I could eat ice cream for dayss. Which means that I've branched out and enjoy lots and lots of different flavors. Well, I had some vanilla this past week which I haven't done for a while because it's "boring" but it was pretty much the best thing of my entire life. For real! It was so good. And in that moment when the spoon of cream-colored goodness was going in my mouth, I realized that vanilla is most definitely my favorite flavor of ice cream.

Today I would like to talk about
"drinking from the well"

As Jesus Christ talked to the woman in Samaria, he told her of the living water, His gospel. We learn about the gospel through the scriptures.

We could come up with a million excuses to not immerse ourselves in the scriptures.
"I'm too busy" "I have too much other reading to do" "I don't understand the scriptures" "I'm too lazy"

The only antidote for this is to just do it
Seriously.

When we spend enough time deeply and consistently reading, we become prepared. Prepared for the trials that lay ahead of us, prepared to share the gospel with those around us, and prepared to withstand the temptation that may confront us.

Reading the scriptures doesn't fix all our problems, but it leads us to the Savior who can help us through them.

I know that there is power in the scriptures. I know that the keys to the kingdom are found within its pages. I know that our Savior loves us and is willing to help us if only we will turn to Him.

love,
Mary

Today is a big day! It's MARCH. and that marks the beginning of a new adventure! I am completing a lazy man iron man this month! It's kind of a big deal, given the fact that I've never even come close to doing anything like this in my life before.

26.2 mile run (that's a whole marathon)
2.4 mile swim
112 mile bike

Woo-hoo! I can't believe that people do this whole thing in o.n.e. day. They must be crazy. But no worries, I'll just be cruisin' through in the next 30 days. I'm super excited about it! It'll definitely keep me occupied and will be so great to start exercising. I'm sure the benefits will be endless haha!
