happy tuesday

March 22, 2016
March 22nd was a busy busy exciting day!

It was my last day of practicum. I am going to miss those kids SOO much! We took a class picture and then the kids got to tell us their favorite memories and then give us advice for being future teachers. They make me laugh :)

I left in the middle of the day to go to the district office for my internship interview. Imagine a room with me + 12 principals. It was a bit intimidating. But they were super nice and I think it went well! I mean they did clap for me at the end ha! I wasn't expecting a call until about 4:30, but on my way home from practicum I got a call from Ryan Murphy.

I'm the newest 2nd grade teacher at Orchard Hills Elementary! I'm actually thrilled to be teaching 2nd grade. I think it's pretty much the greatest! And I can't believe that I'm going to have my very own classroom and that graduating from college is only a year away. When did I become a real adult??

I have a lot to do in the meantime, but I can't wait for August to arrive and for the adventure that awaits me with those cute little students of mine!

March has been a good one! I started my practicum teaching 2nd grade. It was an absolute blast. I was at a school with spanish immersion where the kids do school in english for literacy and then do everything else in spanish. My job was to teach one lesson each day and kind of learn the ropes of management (transitions, lining up, walking down the hallway, calendar, etc.) It all came so naturally and confirmed that I chose the right profession. Even though it was 6 hours a day, it went by so fast and I loved every minute of it. Of course there's a lot to learn, but it was a great start to seeing where I'm at and what I can improve upon. Another plus of the immersion program is that we got two classes, one in the morning and afternoon, so there were more students to get to know and LOVE! I also got to use some spanish and that was so fun too! The kids were amazed that I knew how to speak some haha!

So that took up majority of my time, but I also managed to squeeze in some fun as well.

At the beginning of the month, Miss Chloe had a birthday! So glad she joined the 23 club. We celebrated at none other than Slab. Great pizza. Great friends. Great fun.

Other items of note this month:

The weather started warming up! This calls for no jackets and ice cream cones :)

We also went to a bridal shower for Mary. It's always fun to get together for a party. So happy for her!

Sometimes going to class at 5:15 can be really rough. But I was so glad that I went this day because we got to hear from a world famous pipa player. It's a chinese instrument and it's beautiful! She is so talented and it was so fun to hear her story and how she's gotten to this point. She was performing the next day in the HFAC but we got to hear a little snippet for free! It was intriguing.

I have actually really enjoyed this world music cultures class.
We have studied the music of South India, West Africa, and Bali.

Little baby Mak was born and blessed. He's the cutest. We were all at Matt and Mikelle's one night and Laina had been talking a lot about contractions but she was being induced the next week and we all thought she would make it until then. Uh. nope. Very next day her water broke and she had the baby haha! Tim was able to make it up after a couple days though and it was so fun to see their little family. I could just snuggle him forever.

I'm way behind on blogging, but that's ok. I'm getting back into it and I'm so excited to just WRITE! But today, I'll mostly just share some pictures to get caught up.

Our new favorite Tuesday night activity is getting 2 for 1 shakes at Zeek's. They're the BEST!

Kenzie turned 22! We went to Texas Roadhouse and she got to ride the bull!

Spencer and I went to the Living Legends performance "Seasons". It was amazing! They do such a great job and their costumes are so intricate. Their show is the story of the pride cycle in The Book of Mormon so it's an awesome missionary opportunity. They get to travel to New Zealand, Tonga, Fiji, and Samoa this summer on their tour!

Valentine's Day weekend I took an adventure up to Salt Lake. I found this cute little bookstore.

Cousin temple trips are the best temple trips. We went and did baptisms in Payson. Seriously in love with this temple.

I got a new little side job driving the sports teams to and from the airport when they have away games. This particular morning I had to leave early enough that I got to watch the sunrise. It was gorgeous. I haven't seen too many of those in my life haha

It started getting WARM in Provo!!! I went on a fun double date where we made a fire, listened to music, and made s'mores. It was fantastic.

I went to another bonfire the next night to catch up with some of my Jerusalem friends. oh how I've missed them!!

Another fun date night was making pizzas and playing games! My side is obviously the side that doesn't have cheese hah! This pizza was AMAZING.

And we got to see JORDAN!!! I hadn't seen him for like 5 months so it was good to catch up.

Kenzie and I went to take pics by the lake. It was a pretty day, but definitely freezing. The best part of these pictures were how blue our eyes were ha!

We had more cousin bonding time. We sadly watched the Seahawks lose their playoff game and then watched The Intern after. It was such a cute movie!

JANUARY

I never posted about this but we had a Jerusalem reunion! It was a blast! Two of our friends have cabins up in Kamas, Utah so we got 50 of us up there in a snow storm and had a party. We played games, talked, went on the snowmobiles, watched movies, and ate a lot of food.

One of the cabins had a ton of animals in it. Not my favorite thing in the world. This one was literally right next to the mirror in the bathroom. SCARY!!!
