easter

April 18, 2017
I'm really into this whole "take a trip every other week" kinda thing. It's the best to just take a break from your usual surroundings and do something new! Plus, my parents are super awesome and hanging out with them is the best!!

When you find cheap flights, it's hard to pass up! So I met them in the Denver airport.

We rented a car and the craziest thing happened. We were at the booth to leave the rental car parking lot. The guy in the booth was an older gentleman who asked my dad to roll down the back window where I was sitting. He then turns to me and starts going on about how hard life has been but how after this weekend that is all over. No more tears. A new life, a new me. Everything that was going wrong was behind me and we are only looking forward from now on.

I didn't even know what to think. Eventually as he kept talking, I started to tear up a bit. Here I am in a state I've never been to before and this guy seems to know everything that is going on in my life and knows exactly what to say. And not in a creepy way, but in a very profound kind of way. It was completely bizarre! But as we sat there and kind of took it in for a minute, I just realized that Heavenly Father is so mindful of us and that he can use other people to give us messages.

We went right to the Ricks house and took the tour. Then we went to Cafe Rio (because why not) and then rushed to the Fort Collins Temple. We were just barely too late for a session so we decided to do sealings. We had some family names so that was cool! Then we got the grand tour of the temple from the nicest temple workers. I'm kind of obsessed with any temple that I go to. The furniture, the paintings, the detail, the wood, the ordinances, the silence, just all of it! It is absolutely gorgeous. Sitting in that celestial room it was completely silent. I don't think I've ever been in a room that quiet before.

That night we went to the cantata which was a collection of Kenneth Cope songs. It was really nice! Music for Easter is definitely one of my favorites.

Somehow I got roped into teaching Sunday School the next day and I absolutely loved it! Which may sound kind of weird, but I am a teacher so I guess I'm kind of into that stuff ha! I got to share a lot about Jerusalem which is always fun to reminisce about, especially when you're reflecting on the Savior.

After church we had dinner and played games! Oh, and had the world's best Easter egg hunt!! The perfect Sunday!

We were cracking up because Anna dropped one of her eggs and then when we looked at the picture we were all making the SAME face haha!

Monday was adventure time! We went to Estes Park and into Rocky Mountain National Park. What a blast! I love exploring new places and being in nature so win-win. Estes Park is the cutest little town. They described it as a beach town in the mountains which we were kind of confused about. But they were just referring to it having the same kinds of shops haha!

We had lunch at a great picnic spot and just drove around enjoying the beauty! It was a bit chilly, but not horrible. And it was sunny so that was a plus.

We looked for something to do in Denver before they dropped me off at the airport, and we tried to go to the Mint but we barely missed the last tour so we just walked around for a bit, went to the capitol building instead (I'm also kind of obsessed with those). It's something about the architecture of the buildings and the government things that go on there that just gets me.

It was a quality weekend.
